Solar desalination coupled with water remediation and molecular hydrogen production: a novel solar water-energy nexus

A novel sunlight-water-energy nexus technology combines photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) desalination and wastewater remediation with hydrogen (H2) production. This system uses tailored TiO2 nanorod (TNR) and hydrogen-treated TNR (H-TNR) array photoanodes, with Pt foils in a cathode cell, to desalinate saline water and produce H2 efficiently under simulated sunlight. This innovative technology promises high-efficiency desalination, water remediation, and H2 production, offering significant energy recovery and sustainability.
