Solar Cells: Design of Cyanovinylene-Containing Polymer Acceptors with Large Dipole Moment Change for Efficient Charge Generation in High-Performance All-Polymer Solar Cells

Bumjoon J. Kim and his team have developed naphthalenediimide-based polymer acceptors with superior electron mobility and large dipole moment difference by incorporating electron-withdrawing cyanovinylene groups. These all-polymer solar cells achieved an impressive power conversion efficiency of 7.4% with a high fill factor of 65%, thanks to efficient exciton dissociation and suppressed charge recombination.
