Sung Gap Im, Kyoung G. Lee, and their co-workers have developed a novel approach for the monolithic antibacterial functionalization of intraocular lenses (IOLs). By using an ionic polymer-coated nanopillar array (NPA), they achieved excellent antibacterial performance, which works by rupturing and destabilizing bacterial membranes.
