Manpreet Kaur and Woo Soo Kim have developed 3D-printed polymers with a unique truss design that can be “tuned” to different rigidities, ranging from soft and rubbery to hard and metallic. This technology allows for the efficient manufacturing of robotic grippers by integrating actuators, pressure sensors, and a 3D cellular body. The result is a robotic gripper capable of handling soft objects without breaking or puncturing them.
