[Science Journal Cover design] Mechanoluminescent, Air-Dielectric MoS2 Transistors as Active-Matrix Pressure Sensors for Wide Detection Ranges from Footsteps to Cellular Motions

Science Journal Cover design

Tactile pressure sensors are essential for new technologies like electronic skins, health-monitoring devices, and human–machine interfaces. However, they often face limitations in pressure range and integration. We introduce fully integrated, active-matrix arrays of pressure-sensitive MoS2 transistors with mechanoluminescent layers and air dielectrics. These sensors can detect a wide range of pressures, from footsteps to cellular motions, significantly increasing sensitivity. Their high integration capability allows for detailed pressure distribution analysis, even at the single-cell level, making them ideal for next-generation biomachine interfaces. -Journal cover design by scapiens.
