The front cover of the journal features the design of ceria catalysts for low-temperature CO oxidation. In their review, Jeong Woo Han and colleagues discuss how doping and loading systems can improve the CO oxidation activity of CeO2 catalysts. Transition metal (TM) and rare-earth metal (RE) dopants significantly enhance the activity and stability of these catalysts. The review also explains the origin of this activity due to metal-support interactions. Experimental and theoretical studies suggest that metal supported on (RE, TM) co-doped CeO2 can effectively reduce vehicular CO emissions at low temperatures.
