Dongseob Kim, Sangmin Lee, and their team have introduced a new triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) mechanism that utilizes ion-enhanced field emission (IEFE). By using a simple IEFE layer, electrons can flow directly between two electrodes, resulting in a root mean square power that is 635% higher than that of a conventional TENG.
