The Cover Feature highlights the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of water-soluble individual gold nanoclusters (Au NCs) fractionated by gel electrophoresis. These Au NCs, stabilized by glutathione, exhibit near-infrared ECL that becomes dominant when the ratio of Au(I) to Au(0) decreases. This discovery suggests that the oxidation states of Au NCs significantly influence the ECL wavelengths, providing valuable insights into the ECL properties of glutathione-stabilized Au NCs in water.
