Yang-Kyu Choi and his team have demonstrated a nano-electromechanical (NEM) switch utilizing a physical unclonable function (PUF) for high security. This PUF leverages the inherent random stiction from microfabrication, creating a unique security key. To enhance security, each NEM switch can operate in more than four distinct states, differentiated by the magnitude and direction of the read current. This robust security key is resistant to microwaves, radiation, and thermal stress, providing a reliable defense against hacking. – Scientific Journal cover design by scapiens
