Tae Geun Kim and co-workers have developed nitride-based microlight-emitting diodes (μLEDs) using AlN thin film electrodes with nanoscale indium/tin conducting filaments created by applying electric fields. These innovative μLEDs show significantly improved light emission and injection current density. This enhancement is due to the ultra-high transmittance and efficient hole-injection rates into the light-emitting layers, surpassing the performance of standard μLEDs with indium tin oxide electrodes. – Journal cover design by scapiens
