Carbon Fibers: Origin and Control of Polyacrylonitrile Alignments on Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene Nanoribbons

Coverimage109

Seung Soon Jang, Yong-Hoon Kim, and their team investigate the interface between polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and graphene nanoribbons (GNR) or carbon nanotubes (CNT). They found that PAN aligns linearly on GNR/CNT, with a preference for lying-down configurations. The study highlights strong, balanced charge accumulation on GNR due to PAN adsorption and shows GNRs as superior carbon nano-reinforcement elements compared to CNTs.
